How to choose a QR code size for printing
Choose a practical QR code print size based on scanning distance, content, error correction and the printing material.

There is no single size for every QR code
The required size depends on the amount of encoded data, scanning distance, camera quality, print material and surrounding design. A short web address can create a simpler symbol than a long paragraph or complex Wi-Fi payload.
Begin with the scanning situation
A code scanned from a product card at arm’s length can be smaller than a code placed on a wall or sign. Increase the physical size as the expected scanning distance grows. Always leave clear space around the code.
Use enough error correction
Higher error correction can help when a print may become slightly damaged, but it also makes the symbol denser. Do not treat error correction as permission to cover the code with a large logo. The simplest and most reliable design remains a complete, high-contrast symbol.
Choose the export format
SVG is ideal when the designer or printer may resize the artwork. PNG can work well when exported at the final required dimensions and not enlarged later. Avoid screenshots because browser scaling can introduce blur.
Test on the real material
Paper, plastic, fabric and glossy laminate behave differently. Print a sample with the same printer, ink and material that will be used for production. Test under normal lighting and from the expected distance.
Reduce content when the code becomes too dense
Use a shorter URL or remove unnecessary text. A simpler payload creates a less dense code that is easier to reproduce at a given size.
